I have had the privilege of preaching God’s word and seeing His presence move over and audience and hundreds of listeners respond to His word. I have also preached and in humility, emptied the house. I have watched people stand in the rain and listen to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and refuse to leave until the last word was said and the last prayer was prayed. I have also to my dismay waited for people to come to church while it was raining and hardly anyone arrived.
When God takes a man who makes himself available to Him and says, “Go and preach in the power with which I have endowed you,” he wil see great and mighty things happen.

God works for those who love Him and wait upon Him. When we make ourselves available to Him, we are marveled by the things He does in and through us.
The apostle Paul saw that great truth put into practice in His life and ministry. “But just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
The apostle is quoting Isaiah 64:4. God is at work all about us. What do you see Him doing today in your community, the school you attend, your family, and in your life?

“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24).
God is absolutely free from all limitations of space and time. God’s essential nature is spirit.
It is with that truth in mind we would see Jesus with the apostle John in Revelation 1:17 ff. “God is spirit.” He cannot be imagined, and we cannot use anything to help our conception of Him. Nothing that can be made, seen, or touched can help us worship a spiritual and invisible God.

Why do most Christians remain spiritual babies? The author of Hebrews tells us it is because they choose not to go on to maturity in Christ Jesus.
The capacity for entering into deeper spiritual truths depends on the faithfulness with which the soul has been obedient in discerning good and evil in our daily lives.
Our fellowship with God depends upon our obedience to His Word, and our obedience determines how much spiritual maturity takes place in our lives. If we do not act upon what we know to be true in God’s Word, we will not grow in the likeness of Jesus Christ. Neither will we move from “milk” to “meat” in God’s word.

The greatest crisis in the church today is the lack of moral and spiritual discernment. The power of moral discrimination is the mark of spiritual maturity in contrast to childhood. Poor judgment is exercised and lives are destroyed and testimonies ruined.
Every study reveals the same disparity between everyday life and Christian teaching. There is little difference between the professing Christian and the world. Talk to any spiritually mature pastor, and you hear the same lament. One pastor said recently, “One morning I am going to stand up and shout, “Grow up!”

Attitudes play an important role in our daily spiritual lives.
What is my attitude toward God? The writer of Hebrews admonishes us, “Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God” (Hebrews 3:12).
The author is addressing Hebrew Christians or “completed Hebrews,” and is encouraging them to keep their attitudes or heart tender toward the Lord Jesus Christ.

The keynote to the Epistle to the Hebrews is “consider Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and the Messiah.” It admonishes us to set our heart on Him. “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession” (Hebrews 3:1).
The word “consider” (katanoeo) literally means, “to direct one’s whole mind to an object,” to immerse oneself in it and hence to apprehend it in its whole compass” (TDNT).
In order to grow spiritually, we must fix our mind on Christ. It is imperative that we consider carefully and understand fully the person and work of Jesus Christ.
